A Disaster Averted

24 October, 2009

Well, almost. The disaster began at 8 a.m. Thursday for a gentleman who wished his wife to have her favorite flowers on her desk at work. Instead of calling Millinocket Floral directly, he utilized an order gatherer. Apparently the order gatherer called another florist in our town looking for Stargazer Lilies. The florist did not have them in stock but could get them on Friday (which was too late for the customer). The sending shop called the customer back at 10 a.m. notifying him that the florist could deliver Friday. In the meantime, the customer had called Millinocket Floral and asked if we had Stargazer Lilies, which we did. He said he would call back instead the order gatherer called and asked the same questions. They proceeded to give me the order and I promised to have it delivered as soon as possible.
After taking the order (and I knew it was an order gatherer which I usually refuse those types of orders) I then called their customer and told him I had the order and would get it to his wife as soon as my delivery girl came into work. We had a frank discussion on how he had attempted to order his wife’s favorites and how frustrated he had been with getting the order filled.
I gave him our toll free number and assured him should he need service in the future I would be glad to help.
As the delivery girl walked into the school, the recipient stated “My Favorite Flowers! And only 1 person knows!”
Glad we could help!Stargazers
