Thanksgiving in Maine

14 November, 2009

The leaves slowly have left their lofty perches. We’ve been blessed in north Mid-Maine to have a somewhat mild entrance into the fall season. Yes, we’ve had a bit of snow, mostly on Mount Katahdin and a dusting on the ground, but overall sunny days and crisp nights have the Katahdin Region moseying into the winter months.
The woods are now giving their evergreen tips to pickers preparing wonderful Maine Christmas Wreaths and soon to adorn wonderful centerpieces and gorgeous designs for the holidays but first comes Thanksgiving!
The culmination of the fall season flowers, Thanksgiving is the time for families to gather, give thanks, and enjoy the day and even the weekend together. Husbands, sons, and sons-in-law may hunt or watch football while wives and daughters cook the meal.
How about saying “Thanks Mom, Honey, or Dear” for having us here to celebrate family, friends, and the holiday with some beautiful fresh flowers.100_1506
Traditional centerpiece style with candles for a dining table or buffet, this time not just a fall flower theme but the addition of rich burgundy carnations and matching candles. Or how about a bit of whimsy?100_1509
Bright colors of green and a sweep of feathers for a smaller table or buffet table.
Whatever the style, whatever the theme, flowers are the perfect way to help to say Thank You to your hostess for a bountiful dinner.
