Christmas will soon be here!

18 December, 2009

We’ve had a few snowfalls. Lovely as they are, coating the trees with fluffy white decoration, soon follows the cold North winds. These combinations make some challanges for deliveries. Of course, we’re warming the van (I warm it up running to Dunkin’ for my coffee), all designs are wrapped in poly to envelop the flowers in warm air for the trip outside and into the van. The past couple of days have been a bit more “biting”? Could we say? After nights below zero with bitter winds and gusts over 25 mph, delivering beautiful centerpieces, delicate poinsettias, and even some sympathy arrangements during single digit days is sorry to say, the norm in mid-northern Maine.
Care is taken with each delivery and double wrapping has been the standard the past few! Colorful wax tissue is the first layer of protection for the arrangements followed by a layer of poly. That “plastic bubble” certainly does the trick protecting from the harsh elements.
This year, I’ve featured some of our most popular designs for Christmas on our website Millinocket Floral. Traditional centerpieces with fresh Maine balsam, pine, and cedar are decorated with candles, pine cones, glass balls, rich ribbon loops.

Hurricane
The classic hurricane centerpiece allows for candle usage (never leave candles burning when not in the room) as well as creating an elegant mood.

Christmas Present
The “Christmas Present” is an upscale design made in a 5″ clear cube container allowing the flowers the best of atmospheres. Bright holiday ribbons bedeck the cube which bursts from it’s package with festive blooms of red and white. This item features long lasting alstromeria – a favorite of many customers also referred to as “I’ll still marry ya”!
Our Poinsettias are absolutely gorgeous! The reds are huge bracts of full color. Some novelty colors are available but going quickly. The “minis” this year are also stunning, large full colored bracts in various colors. One of our cutest sellers is the double mini poinsettias in a birch bark basket trimmed with holiday greens and glowing bow!
Pixie Poins
These adorable pixies are going quickly.  Stop in, give us a call, or visit the website for your greater Katahdin Area deliveries.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and the Happiest, Healthiest, and Safest of New Years.
