A Florist Never Stops Learning

29 March, 2010

As a member of my State Florists Association I “continue” my education as opportunities arise.  Our State Association is very education minded and provides design shows, seminars, and workshops for it’s members.  Having been involved for a great many years with the Maine Florists’ Association, I’ve had the pleasure of serving on many committees producing the programs.  I always take away a great many new ideas, “tips”, and trends.  Keeping “fresh” in this industry is very important as my customers range in age from school age to our senior citizens.

As a member of the FlowerChat family, I have been privileged to be able to be taught even more.  Just in the past month I’ve learned the power of social media such as blogging, Facebook (yes look for Millinocket Floral Shop and become a fan), and Twitter (@maineflorist).  I’ve also learned a new design technique – weaving – and immediately put the new idea to work.

A tribute for an outdoorsman

But if you want to see some expert weaving? Follow this link to see the gorgeous designs featured in the “Battle of the Floral Designers” and see the beautiful techniques these 4 designers have produced.  Check out all 4 featured shops – two from the West Coast and two from the East.  And VOTE for your favorite.  This is round two (as round one featured 8 designers and florist shops) and round three will produce the Champion!

And don’t forget, Easter is April 4, just  few days away.  Millinocket Floral is pleased to feature the wonderful spring flowers available both in  bulb dishgardens and cut flower designs.

Wishing you a Happy Easter and Bright Spring Days.
